Trippy Mushroom Perler Bead Patterns You Should Try

Trippy Mushroom Necklace

Trippy Mushroom via Pinterest

I like how the picture shows a coin for reference. This is a pretty large pattern. I would think it takes a few hours to complete. Also, there are not many colors. So the complexity of the pattern is not high. I’m not sure how the person shaded under the cap of the mushroom. If you used this technique in the past, please let me know in the comments section.

Trippy Mushroom Tree?

I don’t have a frame of reference like the other photo. Yes, the other photo spoiled me. I’m not sure how tall this pattern is. I feel it is similar in size as the previous picture. The color pallet is simple. This feels like a job that would take a few hours.

Trippy Mushroom Man

We are not going to say this is a game character from a popular game most people know about. I don’t want to receive a cease and desist notice from a certain game company to take down this page.

The color pallet is simple. This is a quick pattern to complete. The blue and orange eyes are my favorite part. There are zero questions about what state that guy is in.

I’m really watching you!

How many eyes do you see? I count 4 eyes. Someone else seeing things is one thing, but this pattern is projecting that state on to you. We don’t normally see a face without glasses with 4 eyes. Very clever creator of this pattern. Very clever indeed.

Trippy Mushroom Blue+White+Gray

There must be pattern beads. The eyes jump out at me. I honestly have never seen this type of bead before. Have you seen or work with them? If so, please let me know in the comment. I wonder if these beads melt faster or slower than the other bead. Do you need to take extra precautions working with them? I’m very curious. Please share!

Among us hama beads

Hama beads are similar to perler beads. There’s a small difference in size between perler and hama beads. Unless you worked with both types of beads in the past, it’s very hard to tell the difference between the two.

Best glue for perler projects

Yes, that’s the name of the file. I work with perler beads a lot, but I never used glue to keep them together. I mainly use an iron to melt the beads. Have you used glue in the past? If so, how did it work out for you?

The red keychain looks different. I think that’s due to the use of glue. If that’s the case, it adds a really cool effect to the piece.

Fortnite perler beads – Llama Edition

Since you’re reading this, you’re probably a Fornite or perler bead lover. May be you love both. Either way, welcome to the site. Let’s take a look a few perler bead patterns that look cool and easy to try out. I did include a few patterns that will take a little more time to complete, but they are well worth the effort! Enjoy.

Note: All the patterns shared are pulled from Pinterest. If you would like to see the board I created for all of the patterns, let me know. I don’t mind sharing the board for inspiration.

The French Lama

The caption reads ‘Perle a repasser lama fortnite’. I believe that translates to ‘Fortnite llama iron bead’. But I’m not sure, my French isn’t that great to be honest. I wonder how many people french speakers play Fortnite. I would think it’s hundreds of thousands at the minimum. What do you think the number is?

Inspired Festive Fornite Llama

Pattern created with Pixel Art Builder

I tweaked the previous pattern with a few color changes. Let me know what you think or if you try the pattern out.

Fortnite Lama – Hama

Yes, that was the caption ‘Fortnite Lama – Hama’. I wonder what this person used to make the beards adhere together. I’ve used an iron in the past. Maybe they did as well.

This pattern isn’t too involved. I think most people can get through this patten in less than an hour. Let me know if you give it a try. I would like to know if you enjoyed the pattern and how long it took you to complete. Do you normally pay attention to the amount of time it takes to complete a project?

Fortnite Lama Hama Beads iron beads pattern 12×16

This is a very compact pattern at 12×16. I think this would make a great keychain, What do you think? Also, I think this is a classic 10 minute or less pattern, definitely placing it in the speed pattern category.

I really like minimal patterns, since they are great patterns to do with kids. It’s simple, fast, and not frustrating to complete. This is definitely one to try if you have a little one.

Fortnite Llama Kandi Pattern

Kandi Pattern is the name of the site that created this pattern. They create really cool patterns. If you’re looking for patterns to try, definitely give them a visit.

Side note: Looks like the llama has on shoes. That’s pretty funny. Is it just me, or does this llama look a bit like a camel? I don’t know. I think it’s in the face.

La llama de Fortnite Hama MINI

La llama de Fortnite Hama MINI

There is nothing mini about this one. This pattern is massive and spreads across five panels. You can see the full guide at https://www.megustahamabeadstienda.com/blog/37_plantilla-hama-beads-mini-llama-fortnite.

I really love how they tell you how many beads of each color is needed to complete the pattern. Someone did their homework.

Note: The guide’s in Spanish. If you need help because you don’t speak Spanish, I can translate for you. Please just ask.

Pixel art lama Fortnite

Today I learned llama is lama in French. I read the title and thought, “wait, that’s not in English…”, which is completely fine.

Looking at this pattern, I noticed how informative it is. I’m going to be honest. I don’t really understand the numbering in each cell, but I’m intrigued. If you understand the scheme, please share. All that being said, I think this pattern is simple and straightforward. I definitely can see most people completing this pattern in 30 minutes or less. What do you think? Can you complete this one in 30 minutes?

What I couldn’t find

I was very disappointed that I didn’t find a silver or golden llama perler bead pattern. Those are the best llamas in the game since they have the best loot. I don’t really get excited unless a llama is silver when I play Fortnite.

How to Turn Pictures into Perler Bead Patterns #2

If you’re like us, you spend time trying to find a great picture to bead. Perler beading is fun and rewarding. You can sit back and look at your work and be proud.

After you find a picture, what do you do? Luckily we have an app to help us convert pictures to patterns. You can use it too, but before we tell you how, let’s give you an update.

What’s happened since the last post?

We’ve been busy. We’ve done a lot of work testing the new application. The application isn’t ready for primetime, but you can still benefit. I will tell you how later, but I wanted to share a story.

Michelle B. gave us a challenge. She signed up to test the new application. Check out part one for details on how you can use the new app for free. The directions are at the bottom of the page.

When we saw this picture, we definitely saw a challenge. For one thing, there’s a lot of dark to dark color contrast in the original picture. Most of our tests were with light and dark color contrast.

clown-original.jpg

If you look at the picture above, you can see what we mean about contrast? This was going to work. We had confidence. Well, at least we hoped so. We ran the picture through our program and this is what we came up with.

Pixel Beads Update

It’s been a few years since I created my program. I can still use it and I do from time to time. I recently found Pixel Beads. I’m going to be honest, the app puts my app to shame. I really suggest you use that app and try it out. If you want to request that I convert you images with what the app built, I’m definitely game for this. I would also suggest you give Pixel Beads a try. It’s a very cool tool.

Look at all the options. Image pulled from Pixel Beads.

How to Turn Pictures into Perler Bead Patterns

I really need your help. We created a web app. We don’t even have a name for it yet. Eventually, we will name the app and create a site. I would love for you to send me your pictures to convert.

How much will this cost you?

Zero.

I’m looking for feedback. I need to do a lot of testing before I release this to the public.

Here’s the original picture:

Where To Buy Perler Beads

What are perler beads and where can you buy them?  Perler beads are small circular pieces of hard plastic that you put together on a peg board to form a design. Then you melt the plastic using an iron with bead ironing paper. The final look of the project will look joined and meshed together, not like the tiny separate circles that you started out with.

You can  buy them in small packs or large bins of 22,000. Most craft stores like Michael’s, Jo Ann Fabrics, A.C Moore, and Hobby Lobby sell perler beads. Some other places to look for them can be online at Amazon, eBay, Walmart, and Target. I find that in my area, I get lucky at the local thrift store. I have found large bins of perler beads at Goodwill for about $3.94. Shopping at Savers, Value Village and 2nd Avenue has also worked out for me. You even have a choice to buy the mixed or separated. The mixed colors come in bigger containers ranging from 6,000 to 22,000 beads. While the individual colors come in smaller bag sizes, anywhere from 100 to 600 pieces.

keychain

I am sure as soon as the weather is nice again I will be able to score a few from yard sales and community yard sales. Church rummage sales are another good place to score some beads. You can always ask the person if the have any to sell even if you don’t see them out on the table. Especially if they already have crafty looking stuff in their yard sale. Let’s face it, people don’t bring out everything they want to get rid of. There are some other places that you can find perler beads that you normally wouldn’t think could sell them. I have gotten small themed sets from Barnes and Nobles, Five Below, and Kohls.

The possibilities are endless with perler beads. You can find so many creative projects online on YouTube, etsy, ebay, and Pinterest. My son and I do projects together all the time. We have made earrings , small gifts, and drink coasters so far. I get so many compliments on my pixel feather earrings. Everyone thinks they are Minecraft arrows. His next project will be a large Pokemon that he wants to put on his wall. Shopping to them is fun too. I don’t only  just look for the beads, I try to look for storage bins, perler boards, and bead ironing paper. Going to the Goodwill is an adventure. I get so excited to find a 22,000 bin that is barely used for under $5.00.

Perler beading is a fun activity for the whole family to get into. It is a low cost activity with fun results ! Even save money buy making the kids key chains, birthday cake toppers or even cool party theme favors. Your collaborative creative ideas will inspire you to make projects your whole family can enjoy. I would love to know what projects you or your kids have created. Please leave comments below!

Perler Bead Projects

If you’ve seen these little beads before, or have some just sitting around and have absolutely no clue what do to with them, then you came to right place. Perler beads are are great for making projects! If you just use a bit of creativity, you can create anything. Here are a few ideas.

Pixel Art

When most people work with perler beads, they usually create some kind of pixel art. these kinds of projects are very fun, and can range from something as easy as a simple square, to something as extravagant as an 8-bit sprite from your favorite video game. Keep in mind that bigger projects do take more time. The plus side on this is that after a long project, it feels very rewarding to see the amazing finished result. These are great gifts, or items to display in your home or office.

Coasters

If you have little ones around, a great thing to do is make perler bead coasters. It’s something very simple, and a great way for younger ones to express creativity, all while keeping your drinks from ruining the coffee table. Don’t think of this project as making a colorful square (although you can if desired) , but think of it as a way to add some creative spice to your home, and really lighten up the place. With different shaped templates such as hexagons and circles, the bead layout possibilities are endless!

coaster

Perler Bowls

This project can be a real conversation piece for your home, office, or just about anywhere. This is also a very simple and fast project. I wouldn’t recommend doing this project unless you are using a surplus supply of beads. All you need is a microwave safe bowl, some random or assorted collections of beads, non-stick cooking spray, and of course a microwave. Then coat the bowl with cooking spray, and a thin layer of beads and throw it in the microwave for ONLY about 10-15 seconds, we don’t want to start a fire now! Please note that your bowl does not need to be as intricate as the one shown below.

perler bowl

Game Boards

Now before even starting this project, I would like to say that this is a bit time consuming. No matter, it’s still very fun. You can create a diy game, make up rules and even game pieces! But lets not get to ambitious now, we haven’t even talked about how to make this. First and foremost, you will need perler beads… a lot of perler beads. Also, you will need to invest in huge perler grids. The best kind are the clear ones, as you can see the design you are working with under it. That brings me to my next point, a design. The design that you work work with could either be a printed out mini game board, or an actual game board, such as the one from the famous game, Monopoly or the unique and hexagonal board of Catan. With all of this said, just know that this is a great long-term project to try!

perler game board

3D Perler Patterns

Now these are on the more complicated side of making perler projects. This involves making lots of layers, and having tons of beads. I personally recommend getting assorted bags of certain colors, so 1,000 count bags  are usually the best. Also you will need some type of pattern, because these projects require some type of reference. But do not let this discourage you, because once you have one of these marvelous creations, you will have a great display item. Note that is activity is only limited to your imagination!

Summary

To sum this up, you can do so much fun stuff with perler beads. I would suggest this  to anyone who is interested in a new hobby. Start small, and work up to bigger projects, and see what’s right for you. But don’t overwhelm yourself, because the purpose of a hobby is to relax and enjoy yourself. Just remember that what ever project you may choose to do, make sure you enjoy it. It’s only limited to what you can imagine! Happy beading!
